Britain supports the integration process of Georgia into NATO
Britain has expressesed its support for the integration process of Georgia into NATO. According to the "Georgia-News", such a statement was made on the eve by the British Minister of Defence for International Security Strategy Gerald Howarth at the end of the meeting with representatives of the Georgian Defense Ministry in Tbilisi.
"I'm glad that I have came to Georgia. I want to reiterate the support for Georgia's integration process into the Euro-Atlantic structures from the UK. Britain has again continued to help Georgia in carrying out the reforms necessary for accession to NATO" - said Howarth.
"Georgia is a great friend of Britain. We are fighting side by side in Afghanistan, and I personally want to thank the Georgian people for the sacrifices in the name of the preserving peace and stability in the world" - added the British minister.
Earlier, during his one-day visit to Tbilisi Howarth has met with Georgian Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia, the First Deputy Minister of Defence of Georgia Nodar Kharshiladze and several senior military officers of Sakartvelo. The sides have discussed the issues of Georgia's integration process into NATO and the ongoing reforms in the Georgian Defense Ministry.
