Georgian opposition leaders have stood up for the media holding the "Palitra Media"
Georgian oppositionists have stood up for the media holding the "Palitra Media". "According to the "Georgia-News", the opposition parties of the country considered the check of the Ministry of Finance of six companies of the holding as the attempts of political pressure on the leadership of the holding.
"On the part of Saakashvili's regime there is an intelligent attack on the free and powerful media tools and there aim is an obedience and destruction of these medias" - was said in a statement of the "Georgian party". Checking followed the objective coverage by the media group of the opposition protests in May and disperse of an unsanctioned meeting of the "National Assembly" on the night of May 26, according to representatives of the opposition party.
In turn, the "new rights" suggest that the current checking is an attempt of authorities to intimidate and interfere with the activities of the popular and objective media in the country. "We do not want to overtake, and yet we refrain from the final assessment, but we want to urge the authorities not to attempt holding terror and act within the law" - the 'new rights" claimed.
"Palitra Media" is a rare exception, which is giving an objective and balanced information" - said representatives of the oppositional "Ways of Georgia". They urge to "stop the persecution".
Recall, the information about the beginning of inspections in the six companies of the media holding "Palitra Media" appeared earlier today.
