Georgia intends to produce trains itself
On the eve, a meeting of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili with governors and members of the government of the country on economic issues took place. According to the "Business-Georgia", at this meeting, the Head of State expressed his wishes to start Georgia's own production of railway wagons.
"It would be nice if we can bring innovations in the train assembly - said Saakishvili. - It is necessary to start with small details, even though with assembly of the desk control console ... If we can not go to high technology, we would have no future" - Saakashvili claimed.
In response, the head of Georgian Railways Irakli Ezugbaya, who presented at the meeting, said that recently, "Georgian Railways" has acquired three new trains and in the near future there are expected supply of five more new rolling stocks. He added that the engines of the trains are made abroad and in Georgia they are only assembling the trains.
