The opposition: the U.S. attacks Georgian language
The Labour Party of Georgia declares that the authorities of the country on orders from the U.S. are carrying out a discriminatory policy towards the Georgian language.
According to the "Medianews", one of the representatives of the party Samson Gugava said that officials from the Ministry of Education of the Republic obliged to hold a lecture at the University of Kutaisi named after Akaki Tsereteli in English. According to the opposition, the initiative of the authorities is part of the "language aggression" against the Georgian population, waged by the United States. There is "enhancing the learning of English in schools, showing movies on television without translation, and now a similar requirement at the university in the country. America is an external invader, trying to introduce their own language in the colony" - claimed Gugava.
Recall, that since the beginning of the academic year 2010 at the initiative of Mikhail Saakashvili in Georgia there was launched the program "Teach and Learn with Georgia". About thousands of volunteer teachers from abroad came in the country to teach Georgian students and teachers English.
Meanwhile, in the opinion of the opposition, the level of guest teachers leaves much to be desired, "Rosbalt" reported. According to the ex-speaker of Georgian parliament, Nino Burjanadze, in Georgia there have been coming teacher of English with a dubious reputation, some of them do not have diplomas and higher education".
