Akhalaia participates in NATO ministerials
The Defense Minister of Georgia Bacho Akhalaia will participate In ministerials of NATO at the level of defense ministers, which opened yesterday in Brussels. The "Georgia-News" reported about this, citing the press service of Defense Ministry of the country.
The meeting participants are considering the issues on the situation in Libya and the financial resources of the Alliance.
Today in the frameworks of ministerial the meeting of defense ministers of non-NATO members who participate in peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan (ISAF) is scheduled.
"Participants will discuss the transitional process and the establishment of stability in Afghanistan. According to Rasmussen, the military mission of the Alliance will be gradually replaced to a supportive role. Withdrawal of troops will occur in a coordinated and orderly manner, taking into account the principles agreed upon by participants from 48 countries of ISAF" - said the statement of the Georgian Ministry of Defense.
As expected, Akhalaia will hold a series of meetings with his colleagues, such as the commander of the U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan General David Petraeus.
They will discuss the work of Georgian peacekeepers in the territory of the country in which they are since 2009.
