Georgia will send an additional battalion of peacekeepers to Afghanistan
Today in the frameworks of ministerial of NATO, which takes place at the headquarters of NATO in Brussels, there met the head of the Georgian Defense Ministry Bacho Akhalaia with the commander of the combined forces of NATO in Afghanistan general David Petraeus.
According to "Trend", among other topics, the sides have discussed issues related to dispatch additional Georgian battalion in support of the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
"In addition, it will be a contribution, introduced by Georgia in international security, the Georgian military will have a unique experience" - Petraeus said, welcoming the decision of the Georgia.
Additional battalion will be sent to Afghanistan next year.
Also Akhalaia and general Petraeus discussed the opening of the Georgian Regional Military Training Center on NATO standards. In the center there will be trained forces of the alliance, sent to participate in international peacekeeping operations.
"Georgia has the full support of NATO in this regard" - said Petraeus.
