In Georgia the major violations in the field of health insurance were revealed
According to the head of the Audit department of Control Chamber of Georgia Giorgi Alasaniya, major irregularities in the usage of budgetary funds by insurance companies as a result of a recent inspection were found. According to the "Business-Georgia", Alasania has unveiled this information at the briefing to reporters; he has also presented the results of the audit of state health insurance program for socially disadvantaged groups, which conducted the Control Chamber.
As it turned out, due to the lack of accountability to the government, only 50 percent of funds was spent on the insurance program, instead of 310 million lari ($ 1 = 1.65 lari) provided for the program. In addition, there were identified errors and improper usage of budgetary funds amounting to more than 6 million lari.
"Chamber of Control of Georgia has completed an audit of state insurance program. The program revealed significant violations which proved the identified by the Control Chamber risks in the field of insurance" - said Alasania.
He added that a number of investigative activities, based on the audit, are now carried out.
