In the Georgian Criminal Code several amendments were proposed
In the Georgian parliament there was registrated the bill with several amendments to the Criminal Code. As the "Georgia-News" reported, according to this amendments in Georgia punishment for participation, creation or leadership of illegal armed groups was strenghtened. Amendments are to be introduced in article 223 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
According to them, the penalty for creating or leadership of illegal armed groups (the army, the union, the detachment or other group) was increased from six to nine years in prison (currently) for a period of six to twelve years.
Also, punishment for participating in an illegal armed formation was increased up to seven years imprisonment (from the current from three to five years).
The article also was proposed to introduce an additional part, which penalizes the financing of illegal armed formations. Punishment for such crimes provides for the payment of a fine or imprisonment of five to eight years.
Also, the new amendments clarify the concept of "illegal armed formations".
