Georgian MFA: Vanuatu does not recognize Abkhazia's independence
According to information released today to the press by director of department for Asia and Africa, Australia and Oceania of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Zurab Aleksidze, the new government of Vanuatu has withdrawn recognition of the independence of Abkhazia.
"The new government of Vanuatu on June 17 issued a statement saying that current government of Vanuatu withdraws and cancels the decision by the previous government decision to recognize Abkhazia's independence" - said Aleksidze.
According to him, "this fact confirms the position of authorities of Vanuatu, that they support the territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders, and that the previous government decision was a mistake and misunderstanding".
Authorities of Vanuatu was changed the day before, on the basis of decision of the Constitutional Court of this country.
Recall, the information that Vanuatu has recognized Abkhazia's independence was announced on May 31 by the head of the Abkhazian foreign minister Maxime Gvindzhia.
