Georgia participates in the Conference on Nuclear Safety in Vienna
Delegation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia is involved to the IAEA conference dedicated to the development of a new strategy of nuclear safety. According to the "Georgia-News", this information was released to reporters by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Nino Kalandadze. She recalled that the conference was opened today in Vienna, Austria.
"After the tragedy of March 11, IAEA Director-General appealed to the countries members of the organization for the conference, and to develop a new strategy, as well as to review the measures of prevention in the field of nuclear safety" - Kalandadze said.
The meeting participants are going to give the first adequate assessment of the accident at Japanese nuclear power plant "Fukushima-1", and to analyze the level of preparation of national, regional and international systems to respond to emergencies of this magnitude.
The conference will run until June 24.
