Georgia and the U.S. are learning together to respond to disasters
On the eve in Sakartvelo there has began joint military exercises of armies of the U.S. and Georgia - "Common Horizons 2011". Tasks of maneuvers were named.
As the American Embassy reported on Monday, "the exercises are aimed at ensuring all sides to respond effectively to natural disasters". "The need for such training is due to the recent natural disasters that occurred in Georgia" - added the diplomatic agency.
Activities within bilateral exercises will last until June 24 and will be coordinated by the Interior Ministry and Defense Ministry of Georgia. In the maneuvers, in addition to the Georgian side, there will be involved 20 U.S. soldiers of the National Guard of Georgia state. The U.S. Army commander in Europe Mark Hertling will watch the course of exercises, reported "Novosti-Georgia".
