Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia will validate the words of Ambassador of France
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia intends to demand from the French Ambassador Eric Fournier in Tbilisi explanations for his critical statements about the authorities of the country.
Earlier, Ambassador of France to Georgia Eric Fournier, speaking about the war in South Ossetia, said that Tbilisi will not be able to transfer the guilt for their actions against the people of South Ossetiato on someone else. "You can not rewrite history and to put responsibility not on itself. If you deepen, you must demand explanations from the Menshevik Republic, which in 1921 destroyed the Ossetian population, and not from France and another country. In this case, the real responsibility lies on the nationalism of both sides" - he stressed.
In turn, representatives of Foreign Affairs of Georgia pointed out that the words of Fournier require additional verification. "It's hard to give any estimate; yet we have spoken with the ambassador and ask why such a statement was made. It will be surprising if Eric Fournier has realy said something like that, and we are talking about a country, which has been a mediator in the Russo-Georgian war, and as a mediator in the establishment of the ceasefire agreement" - the "GHN" quoted the words of Deputy Foreign Minister Georgia Nino Kalandadze.
