The opposition demands to reduce the number of Georgian peacekeepers in Afghanistan. 18628.jpegParticipation of Georgian troops in peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan must be reviewed. According to the "Georgia-News", the representative of the opposition Sakartvelo the "Georgian Party" made such an appeal to the authorities. This statement was made in connection with the dissemination of information about the death of the Georgian peacekeeper in Afghanistan. The statement also expressed condolences to relatives of killed soldier Gia Goguadze.

In this regard, "The Georgian party" needs to reconsider the scope of participation of Georgian military operations in Afghanistan.

"The "Georgian Party" believes that the Georgians should be involved in international missions, but the Georgian military contingent should not be increased so immensely. We are alarmed that the Georgian leadership is going to further increase the number of Georgian troops in Afghanistan" - said in a statement of the opposition.

"Instead of increasing the number of Georgian troops in operations abroad, it is necessary to reduce their numbers, what in turn will reduce the risk of death of Georgian military" - believes the opposition.

Earlier today, the Defense Ministry confirmed the death of the soldier Gia Goguadze. The tragedy occurred a few days ago during a Taliban attack. A few more soldiers were wounded.
