Georgian parliamentarians discuss the amnesty bill for construction companies
Today, the Georgian members of parliament began discussing the bill, on which construction companies which have violated the terms of construction, will be exempt from fines. However, they should to spend the savings for the completion of constructions already started.
"In line with these changes, developers will be exempted from fines, so they have a resource to complete the construction. The population, which is for a long time waiting for the completion of their apartments, will know the specific date; also it will improve the appearance of the city" - "Georgia-News" quoted parliament secretary of the Government Gia Khuroshvili. He is the author of the initiative.
Currently, companies which have not completed construction till deadline are to pay a fine from hundreds of thousands to several million lari.
"Because of this situation the government decided to declare the so-called amnesty, so that the companies saved the funds needed to pay the fine and to complete construction" - said Khuroshvili.
However, if a second violation of the law will take place sanctions to construction companies will be tightened.
