Mamuka Areshidze was accused of "betraying the state"
The representative of the Georgian National-Liberation Movement Tamar Chkheidze named famous political scientist Mamuka Areshidze "state betrayer".
According to the "GHN", such harsh words of Chkheidze are associated with a recent proposal of Areshidze to the Georgian authorities to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and to establish equal relations with Sukhum. "With the recognition of independence of Abkhazia, Georgia will begin the process of legal collapse. Main misfortune that we can assume is the recognition of independece of these territories by Georgia" - said Chkheidze.
"Georgia can't exist without Abkhazia. Everyone must know this, even such state betrayer as Mamuka Areshidze" - she added.
Earlier, Areshidze said that raising the legal status of Abkhazia is the only way that they can save Abkhazian gene pool, break the ice between Georgians and Abkhazians and facilitate their reconciliation.
"Our government, despite the fact that they have "very nice" strategy in the occupied territories, they can not use it and create a process. A Western partners, unfortunately, is no longer actively working on this process. They have a lot of other problems, including North Africa and Afghanistan. It is also in the process of restarts with Russia. In short, the situation has reached an impasse. In the current situation, and there is no perspective on the changing situation there. Although the West has recognized Russia's "occupation", and Russia is experiencing discomfort from this point of view, it is just discomfort and nothing more" - said the expert.
