Interior Ministry accuses the Georgian oppositionists in membership in a gang
At a briefing to reporters Georgian Interior Ministry explained the reasons for detention of the oppositionists of the "Georgian Party". According to the "Georgia-News", a law enforcement agency considered them "members of organized gang".
"The Department of Сounter-intelligence of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has detained an organized criminal group, some members of which are associated with the "Georgian Party" - said in a statement of the Georgian Interior Ministry.
The investigation is carried out on basis of article 223 of the Criminal Code of Georgia - the creation of an illegal armed formation, law enforcement agencies have explained.
Recall, on the eve, the chairman of the "Georgian Party" Subari said that the Georgian authorities have started a new wave of repression against the opposition: "About two o'clock in the morning, almost 20 armed policemen entered the house of Terashvili. They ordered the family not to move, then turned off the light and began a search, but after the light went on, they came out the bathroom and brought a firearm" - said Subari.
"These facts are not only repression and terror against the "Georgian Party", this is a continuation of the campaign, which authorities started during the events of May" - added Subari.
