Fournier apologized to Tbilisi for the harsh words
Representative of the Foreign Ministry of Georgia reported that the French Ambassador Eric Fournier has apologized to Tbilisi for his harsh statements about policies of the government.
Earlier, Ambassador of France to Georgia Eric Fournier, speaking about the war in South Ossetia, said that Tbilisi will not be able to transfer the guilt for their actions against the people of South Ossetiato on someone else. "You can not rewrite history and to put responsibility not on itself. If you deepen, you must demand explanations from the Menshevik Republic, which in 1921 destroyed the Ossetian population, and not from France and another country. In this case, the real responsibility lies on the nationalism of both sides" - he stressed.
Fournier also expressed confidence that the Georgian journalists have "self-censorship". According to him, population does not receive from the media full of information in connection with this.
According to VZGLYAD, the Head of European Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Gigi Gigiadze reported that the position of Fournier is his personal opinion and not the official opinion of Paris.
