Georgian media: Ugulava will become president and Saakashvili - Prime Minister
Georgian media say that the ruling elite of the country has already planned out their actions in the upcoming presidential election.
As VZGLYAD reported, according to the weekly "Kwela Siahle" the current Mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava should be the candidate from the ruling party in presidential elections. In the event of his victory, Mikhail Saakashvili, who controls a big part of the executive power, will become a prime minister.
It is noted that the "United National Movement" intends to win a landslide victory in parliamentary elections untill presidential elections. If it happens David Bakradze will stay the speaker.
The representative of the opposition Republican Party David Berdzenishvili said that opponents of the regime must either defeat the plans of the authorities or persuade Western partners of Saakashvili not to recognize results of election in the case of discovering of massive fraud.
Earlier Ugulava, considered one of the most likely candidate for the presidency after the expiration of the current president, said that the issue of the single candidate from the "National Movement" is still open.
"At this point there are different speculations, but the issue of the single candidate from the "National Movement" is still open. It is premature to make predictions on this point. For us, as for Mikhail Saakashvili and other leaders of the party, the destiny of the country is more important then elections"- the Tbilisi mayor said in an interview with Telegraf.lv.
