In Abkhazia, they improve legal system to fight drug addiction
On the eve in Abkhazia an extended meeting of the parliamentary Committee on Legislation, Judicial Reform and State Building took place. According to the news agency "Apsnipress", they discussed the improvement of criminal and administrative legislation aimed at combating illicit trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Prosecutor General, the Supreme Court, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health, Administration of the President and Cabinet Minister.
According to the head of the Committee on Legislation, Judicial and Legal Reform and State Building Victor Vasiliev, "amendments previously offered and rejected at the meeting of the session of the Parliament to the Abkhazian Criminal Code do not reflect the whole range of issues of drug addiction". It is necessary to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking, as well as to identify opportunities for compulsory treatment of drug addicts in the country, he said.
