In Batumi, the sentence to "Russian spies" will be given
Today in Batumi they are awaiting sentencing on charges of spying for Russia. As reported by "Trend", the sentence would be imposed in Batumi City Court.
Interrogation of almost all the defendants and witnesses on this case is almost complete, noted a lawyer Gela Nikolaishvili in an interview.
"All 23 witness of the case are the policemen and representatives of secret services, who were present during the searches of homes of the accused. No petition to call witnesses by defense lawyers had not been approved" - he added.
In Georgia, on October 29, 2010 there were detained 13 people suspected of spying for Russia. Four of the detainees were the Russians. As reported, all of them were detained during a large-scale raid of the Georgian Interior Ministry to identify a group of people who are in contact with the GRU of the Russian Federation.
On April 15 Batumi City Court held session on this case, but it was suspended for "discovery of the new circumstances". From 9 to May 13, another sessions on the case were held. The trial held behind closed doors.
