Sergey Lavrov: Russia is preparing new steps to resolve Karabakh conflict
According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the work on resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will continue in the near future. As reported by Trend, this information was announced to reporters by Russian minister at a press conference.
"We noted that in Kazan the presidents declared about harmonization of important issues that create conditions for achieving a final agreement on a settlement" - Lavrov said.
According to him, President Dmitry Medvedev has completed analysis of the situation after the recent meeting in Kazan and in the near future he will decide on further steps.
"President Medvedev, given the special relationship with the sides of the conflict, took the initiative to hold a series of consultations with the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan to find specific arrangements for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict two years ago. We think that it's time to make decisions" - stressed Lavrov.
Recall, on June 24 in Kazan Ilham Aliyev, Dmitry Medvedev and Serzh Sargsyan discussed the basic principles of Karabakh conflict settlement. The meeting, however, ended without any concrete agreements.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries appeared in 1988.
