Expert: photographers detained in Georgia could reveal the secret of personal life of Saakashvili
Georgian independent expert David Avalishvili believes that group of well-known local photographers detained by employees of the Interior Ministry could be associated with the transmission of secret information about the personal life of Mikhail Saakashvili.
"Perhaps they are suspected of that they told someone the details of personal life of president, members of his family, their routes, travel, plans, meetings, personal conversations, and so on. By the law, all such information constitutes a state secret, and reporters accompanying the president, are warned about the inadmissibility of its disclosure"- "Kommersant" quoted word of expert.
He also said that all the detained journalists had access to the highest echelons of government, as they were included in a pool of President Mikhail Saakashvili, Prime Minister of the Republic Nikoloz Gilauri, as well as Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze.
Previously, law enforcement bodies of Georgia have detained personal photographer of President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili Irakli Gedenidze and his wife. Gedenidze was not the only famous Georgian photographer who appeared under arrest. According to reports, employees of the Interior Ministry of the country have also detained Zurab Kurtsikidze and George Abdaladze.
It was noted that the police raided the homes of the detainees, taking their cell phones and computers as well as devices of their families.
The detainees are accused of providing a variety information to "organization working under the cover of one of the special services of foreign states to the detriment of the interests of Georgia."
