Lavrov: the decision on NATO has influenced on the psyche of Saakashvili
According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the decision that Georgia will join NATO has affected the psyche of Mikhail Saakashvili. As the "GHN" reported, that is how the Russian Minister commented on the arrival of the U.S. missile cruiser "Monterey" to the Georgian port of Batumi in an interview to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta". Lavrov named this fact provocation.
"I agree with you that we are talking about provocation. It is clear that the Americans were invited to participate in naval exercises "Sibris". Some exercises have already been held at the coast of Georgia. If everything is in strict compliance with the Convention Montreux, which limits the stay of foreign navies in the Black Sea, it can not cause any issues. But when Americans choose cruiser "Monterey", equipped with an anti-missile outfit - a system "Aegis", which is already scheduled for inclusion in the naval component of the U.S. missile defense system, from a large number of ships, located in the Mediterranean sea, and which allow them to ensure participation in these exercises, this fact, of course, can cause some questions"- Lavrov said.
"Moreover, "Monterey" has participated in exercises in the territorial waters of Georgia. And we all know how irresistible desire to tighten Saakashvili in NATO and the categorical decision, made in Bucharest, that Georgia will be a NATO member, has affected the psyche of M. Saakashvili. I am sure that everyone understands what a harmful role played all of this when he made adventurous decision to attack South Ossetia" - said Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
