Subari told the Europeans about the human rights situation in Georgia
The head of the "Georgian Party", in the past - the Ombudsman of Georgia, Sozar Subari, has met with the Commissioner for Human Rights of European Council Thomas Hammarberg in Strasbourg within his European trip. "Georgia-News" reported about it with reference to the press service of the party.
The sides have discussed topical issues of Georgia and entire Caucasus region, in addition Subari "drew attention to the issue of political persecution and political prisoners".
"Subari has acquainted Hammarberg with the facts of political persecution of activists and supporters of the "Georgian Party", the criminal treatment and torture of illegally detained. Conversation about the persecution of members of the "National Assembly" (one of the leaders - Nino Burjanadze) was in this same context" - the press service said.
In addition Subari outlined Hammarberg the situation when the law enforcement officials had raided the office of "Georgian Party" on July 4, trying to find its co-chair - Zurab Giguashvili.
"And the persecution of members of political organization still continues" - said Subari.
