Lavrov: Russia and Georgia can agree on WTO with a number of conditions
According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Russia and Georgia could reach agreement on the accession of Russia to the WTO with a number of conditions. As the "GHN" reported, minister announced this opinion today during his meeting with the experts.
"If no political component will appear, we hope to reach agreement with Georgia on the accession of Russia to the WTO" - Lavrov said.
Russia is trying to become a member of the WTO since 1993. Georgia left the negotiations on this issue in April 2008. This step was caused by the protest against the order of the President of Russia to lift economic sanctions against Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Later, the talks of Russia and Georgia on the WTO resumed in March this year. Switzerland acts as a mediator.
