The trial of photographers will be open
Sakartvelo authorities have finally heeded the calls of the public. As stated the Office of the Prosecutor of Georgia, a hearing on the case of Georgian "spy photographers" will be open and any interested person can present there.
"The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia declares that, in accordance with the procedural criminal law, the transparency and publicity regarding the case of Zurab Kurtsikidze, Giorgi Abdadladze, Irakli Gedenidze and Natela Gedenidze will be ensured. In particular, the case will be considered openly and any interested person will be able to present at the trial. The prosecutor's office appeals to the court to consider only the small part of the evidence, which contains state secrets, during closed session" - the "GHN" quoted a statement of the prosecutor's office released today.
Recall, the Georgian and the world community in recent days repeatedly appeals to the authorities of Georgia to make the trial of arrested photographers "transparent" and fair, as well as to declassify at least some of the facts of the case to acquaint it with the public.
