The EU and Georgia have signed an agreement to protect geographical names
On the eve Sakartvelo and the European Union have signed an agreement on mutual protection of geographical names. "Georgia-News" reported abouy this referring to RIA Novosti.
As noted in the press service of the Polish presidency of the EU, under the agreement the EU recognized the quality of products exported to the countries of community by Georgia.
This document, in particular, says about the 18 names of Georgian wines. Among them there are "Khvanchkara", "Tsinandali", "Kindzmarauli", "Manavi", "Gurjaani" and "Akhasheni."
By this agreement, about three thousand types of agricultural products can be exported to Georgia.
The signed document is designed to help to increase trade between the EU and Georgia. According to the Commission, it reached about 1.71 billion euros in 2010.
