Tugushi: the prisoners could rebel due to the cancellation of tranquilizers
Riot of prisoners of Ksani prison could occur due to the cancellation of a tranquilizer "Diazepam". As the "GHN" reported, such an assumption was made today by Ombudsman of Georgia Giorgi Tugushi at a joint session of the Human Rights Committee and Judiciary Committee of the Parliament of Georgia.
"The prisoners were recieving the "Diazepam" in prisons, but there were occurrences when they stopped handing it out and that negatively impacted on their psychological state" - said Tugushi.
"This fact was not confirmed, but I guess the riot was related with the stopping of handing out the tranquilizer" - he stressed. However, he clarified that not all drug-addicted prisoners were connected to a substitution program.
"Adviser of the Minister decides which prisoners should be connected to the program and this is definitely a problem" - said Tugushi.
