Opposition of South Ossetia should begin a dialogue with the government2011-07-18 12:23
A well-know South Ossetian opposition leader Leonid Kochiyev spoke about his meeting with President of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity.
As Kochiyev told in the interview to "Echo Kavkaza", he went on a dialogue with the president, because he was sure that different political forces of the republic need for productive dialogue. "The president said that he was ready for dialogue with the opposition. In a case, the authority will be able to refer to the fact that the president was trying to engage with the opposition and the opposition had refused to do it, and a result is unintended consequences" - he stressed.
Kochiyev also noted that the discussion of power and opposition in South Ossetia can take a variety of formats - including holding various forums and round tables. He added that he is ready to take part in them.
"Speaking of my colleagues on the opposition movement, so there are motley personalities. Some of them are in irreconcilable positions - they are radicals. The others are moderate - they are centrists. And those who are ready for dialogue through mutual concessions, they are most sane, of course. Fair elections must be held in South Ossetia, and it will arrange everybody" - said Leonid Kochiyev.
Note, that Eduard Kokoity, during a recent meeting with representatives of the socio-political movements and parties in South Ossetia, said that the republic's authorities are ready to dialogue with their political opponents. "I, in turn, am also ready to lend a hand of friendship and harmony to all constructive and progressive opposition movements of the Republic and to join the discussion of any issues concerning the future of South Ossetia and socio-political situation in the country as a whole" - said Eduard Kokoity.
He added that the authorities are ready to "toughly suppress all illegal acts aimed at undermining security and stability in the republic".
He also noted the danger of calls of some opposition forces, acting outside the territory of the Republic, to overthrow the current government of South Ossetia. "All the problems of South Ossetia should be discussed here in South Ossetia, rather than somewhere abroad, discrediting the people, the republic and all our gains" - said Eduard Kokoity.
