An appeal on "photographers" was directed to the law enforcement agencies in Georgia
Representatives of the Georgian coalition "For a media advocacy" directed a special appeal in a number of government agencies of Georgia. As the "GHN" reported, a document was sent to Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili, Chief Prosecutor Zodelava Murtaza and Chairman of the Security Council Gig Boqueria.
The authors of appeal drew attention to statements by officials at the contradictions that were revealed in the so-called "case of photographers-spies". In particular, we are talking about the fact that Interior Minister has repeatedly stated to journalists that the case of photographers is not completely secret, the corresponding classification was imposed only on the part of the case. However, according to lawyers of detainees, they have signed up documents on non-disclosure details of the case, as the materials of thecase were completely classified.
"There are contradictions between these statements, which further increase the confusion in the society ... On the basis of high public interest, we require that case files were opened and available" - noted in appeal.
Representatives of the coalition appealed with a request to the heads of the afore-mentioned law enforcement agencies to change the terms of the agreement with the lawyers, giving them the opportunity to disseminate information on the case of photographers.
