Monument to victims of WWII will be moved to the outskirts of Batumi
City Council (sakrebulo) of Batumi decided to move the monument to victims of World War II from the city center to the outskirts. As the "Georgia-News" reported referring to the press service of the Sakrebulo, this decision was taken at a meeting on July 15.
"In place of the obelisk there will pass cableway, which will connect Batumi with the mountain of Anor. From the coast to the mountain Anor town there will be stretched a two-kilometer cableway, and the moving of the obelisk is caused by this" - the press-service.
Now, the obelisk will be installed at the Sergi Meskhi street, where a park in memory of victims of the Second World War is planned to be built.
"It's still under question when the obelisk would be moved to the outskirts of the city. This issue will be discussed at the meeting sakrebulo in the near future" - added in the city administration.
