SOCAR paid attention to the market of the Middle East
State Oil Company of Azerbaijan - SOCAR - said about intention to gain access to markets in the Middle East through Turkey. Trend reported about this referring to the head of the Foreign Investment of SOCAR Vagif Aliyev. This information Aliyev announced at a meeting with Turkish journalists.
"We have already conducted preliminary research with the potential consumer countries in the Middle East. As soon as the situation in Syria is stabilized, we will start selling gas to all consumers in the Middle East" - said Aliyev.
According to him, Azerbaijani gas supplies to Syria will be possible after the completion of construction of the pipeline Turkey - Syria (Aleppo, Kilisi).
The lenght of the pipeline, according to the plans, is around 65 kilometers.
Recall, July 2009, during the visit of the President of Syria Bashar al-Assad's to Azerbaijan they have agreed on supply of one billion cubic meters of gas per year.
In April 2010, Azerbaijan signed a protocol on economic cooperation with Jordan. Among other things, they discussed the possibility of export of Azerbaijani hydrocarbons in Jordan.
"Syria has expressed interest in construction of a pipeline connecting its gas network in Turkey, and BOTAS has already completed construction of a section of the pipeline at the border areas" - said Aliyev.
