Ankvab: Abkhazia is ready to negotiate with Georgia
According to the Acting President of Abkhazia Alexander Ankvab, the republic's authorities are willing to negotiate with Georgia without any preconditions. As the "Georgia-News" reported, Acting President announced this information today at the TV channel RBC-TV. "We do not want anyone to live in eternal enmity. For this reason, we did not come out of the mechanism of the Geneva Discussions on Transcaucasia" - said Ankvab.
"Today there are all conditions in order to Abkhazia could be considered a full-fledged independent state" - he added, explaining that "there are problems with the recognition of the country by international community". Nevertheless, the international community's attitude to such issues may change over time, he said.
"Abkhazia has economic issues more important than political" - further noted Acting President of Abkhazia. It's harder to cope with economic difficulties, according to Ankvab.
Regarding the upcoming elections in the country, which is scheduled for August 26, Ankvab said: "I do not see any problem, it is a choice of everyone. I am sure that after the elections our relationship will remain the same. Elections is not a reason to spoil relations with friends".
