In Tbilisi, rally in support of refugees took place
Today, protest rally under the slogan "I am a refugee too" was held near the residence of the head of the Georgian state in Tbilisi. As reported by the "Georgia-News", the participants came up with the demand to keep the promises that were given to IDPs from Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
"The President of Georgia has not kept his promise and internally displaced people are being evicted from the capital. These people demand to get them shelter in a place where there will be employment opportunities. They demand basic conditions for life or return to their native houses" - said one of the organizers, a former member of the opposition "People's Party" Alexander Shalamberidze.
Most of those who was evicted from the capital were left without a shelter. Some of them live with their relatives or rent apartments, said Shalamberidze.
"Current government gives no guarantee that today or tomorrow they will not face the same problem, so our goal is to share people's problems in order to unite society" - said Shalamberidze.
He has also explained that despite all, this protest is symbolic. Therefore, it was attended by ordinary people and the Georgian capital.
"I urge everybody to get rid of fear and actively express support and solidarity with the internally displaced persons" - added one of the organizers of the rally Lasha Chkhartishvili.
