Georgia starts issuing ID-cards
On August 1, Georgia begins issuing new ID cards.
As the Deputy Minister of Justice Giorgi Vashadze stated, it will be a plastic card which will indicate the place of residence. First of all, this ID-card will be issued in Tbilisi and Batumi and then throughout Georgia.
Note, previously it was reported that the Georgian parliament had adopted a package of legislative amendments on the issue of "neutral identity card" and "neutral travel documents" for the residents of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
"Travel document won't be printed in Georgian language, it won't have the image of the State Emblem of Georgia" - explained in Parliament. They'll be able to get such documents in the relevant state institutions of Georgia within 10 working days. Citizens of independent states would pay 35 lari ($ 20) for such document, and 10 lari (about $ 7) for identity card. These documents will allow its holder to travel freely throughout the territory of Georgia and to travel abroad.
