Dmitry Medvedev, the President of Russia, signed the decree "On measures on prohibition of military products and products of double purpose export to Georgia", RIA-Novosti informs alluding to the Kremlin Press Service.gt-en-newsitem-inside
Federal organs of executive power, state corporations, unitary entities, other juridical persons , founded in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, and physical bodies in their activities should consider that since the day the current decree is inured till December 1st 2011, supplies, sales or transfer from the territory of the Russian Federation or by citizens of the Russian Federation to Georgia the products of military purpose, including weapons and military machinery, materiel connected with it, and the products of double purpose that can be used in military purposes, irrespective of the manufacturing place of the product of military and double purpose, use of railroad, water and air transport for it, conducting consultations, rendering assistance or providing services, connected with manufacturing, maintenance and operation of the weapons and military machinery, services on training specialists in the military sphere, are prohibited, the decree states.
The President also requested the government to suggest limitation or cessation of military technical and military economic cooperation with foreign countries or organizations found supplying, selling and transferring to Georgia weapons and military machines of Russian (or Soviet) design or assembly.
Moreover, according to the decree, the Cabinet of Ministers must immediately suggest special economic measures in case the facts of supplies of products of military purpose to Georgia, leading to destabilizing accumulation of weapons and military machinery or favoring regional instability in any other way, by foreign states, foreign organizations or citizens, or persons without citizenship constantly residing in the territories of foreign states.
Medvedev charged the government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Justice, the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, the Federal Security Service, the Federal Service on Technical and Export Control, the Federal Service on Military and Technical Cooperation and the Central Bank responsible for the implementation.
