The "Six" accused Georgian authorities of lying
According to leaders of parties belonging to the so-called opposition "Six", the current Georgian authorities do not have power and will to create a refined list of voters. As reported by the "GHN", according to representatives of the "Six", the holding of elections with use of biometric passports is much cheaper than Georgian authorities said.
In a statement the "Six" claimed that "creating a refined list of voters with use of biometric passports requires much less funds and time than was announced by authorities - maximum of $ 8 million and 4-6 months."
"Representitives of company "Smart Matic" has arrived in Georgia specifically and has developed a specific project. Their calculations were based on calculations they had carried out in other countries" - said the opposition.
"Today the authorities starts issuing new biometric passports. At the same time President Mikhail Saakashvili said that he had agreed to the opposition's proposal to increase the number of deputies to reach a political consensus, although he hadn't considered this step necessary. For this reason, we believe that neither the authorities nor any political party have arguments to abandon the pre-registration with use of biometric passports" - said in a statement of opposition political association.
