Azerbaijan hopes for an objective document on Karabakh
The other day, the ruling party of Azerbaijan - "Yeni Azerbaijan" Party (NAP) - expressed the hope that the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will adopt an objective document on Nagorno-Karabakh. This was reported by the agency Trend.
"We hope that the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will adopt an objective document on Nagorno-Karabakh" - said in an interview the deputy executive secretary of the party "Yeni Azerbaijan", MP Siyavush Novruzov.
At the regular session of the NATO PA Azerbaijan delegation will keep the focus on the Karabakh conflict, said Novruzov. He added that NATO supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
"Last year, in this structure planned to discussion of the draft resolution on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. But in 2010, Azerbaijan held parliamentary elections, so we asked to postpone discussion of this document. Recall, as expected, the autumn session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly was held in November in Bucharest.
The conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan occured in 1988. In May 1994 the sides reached a cease-fire. Peace negotiations under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group, co-chairing of Russia, France and the United States are continuing till now.
