Georgians will hold a rally in Sweden
Today in Stockholm, near the Russian Embassy, Georgian diaspora will hold a rally. As reported by the "GHN", the event is dedicated to the third anniversary of the war between Russia and Georgia in August 2008.
According to the head of the local diaspora Marina Aksell Tskhondiya, the protesters will demand to stop the "occupation" of Georgia by Russia.
"We will demand to stop the "occupation" of Georgian regions by Russia in order to thousands of refugees get the right to a dignified return to their homes. We will never reconcile with the fact that part of our country is "occupied" - she said.
Tskhondiya added that Georgia will continue to fight for reunification.
Recall, the conflict in South Ossetia in August 2008 was unleashed by the Georgian authorities. Russia, speaking on the side of Tskhinval, has carried out an operation to "force Georgia to peace" and has recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Later, Moscow's position was supported by Nicaragua, Venezuela and Nauru.
Official Tbilisi severed diplomatic relations with the Russian side, the two republics were called "occupied territories".
According to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, actions of the Russian authorities were "optimal" during the war in South Ossetia.
