Medvedev awarded combatants of events of 2008
Today Russian President Dmitry Medvedev awarded the 10th Separate Special Forces Brigade of the Ministry of Defense the "Order of Zhukov" for participation in operations in Georgia in August 2008. "Georgia-News" reported about this referring to RIA Novosti.
The "Order of Zhukov" was established by presidential decree in May 1994. It is awarded to individuals senior officers for their merits in designing and conducting major military operations.
"Combatants of Special Forces Brigade must respond specific and higher requirments. They must have the ability to make correct and appropriate decisions in very difficult situations and selflessly carry out tasks in the shortest possible time. Therefore, special forces is the elite of the armed forces, and short but colorful history of your team is the best evidence of it"- said the Russian president at the award ceremony.
"You have prepared and carried out complex military operations in the North Caucasus and South Ossetia. Today you are successfully mastering the modern techniques of combat and special training, new equipment and new weapons. I have no doubt that you will continue to serve the interests of our country, the Russian Federation and to protect the safety of our citizens" - said Medvedev.
Recall, the 10th Separate Special Forces Brigade was formed in May 2003.
