In Tbilisi, they want to evict refugees again
Today in the Georgian capital, a press conference of refugees, dedicated to the issue of their eviction from the places of compact residence, will be held in a former hotel "Abkhazia". This was reported by Trend.
At the moment, approximately 300 families of refugees from South Ossetia are living in the former Hotel "Abkhazia". The procedure of eviction is scheduled for August 15. They have received The notice to vacate the premises in which the refugees have lived for 21 years on August 5 - 10 days before the scheduled eviction.
According to the refugees themselves, their eviction was illegal. Moreover, they consider compensation of 10 thousand dollars per family, proposed for them, a "mockery". According to preliminary data, they are going to move in Rustavi. However, the authorities do not give them information about alternative housing in a new city because a notice of eviction doesn't contain addresses of new homes in Rustavi.
Recall, the problem of eviction of refugees in recent years is relevant to all Georgia.
Not long ago, a similar procedure of evictions took place in Kutaisi. However, later, the Georgian Ministry of Refugees and Resettlement of IDPs issued a rebuttal of this information. "It's a lie which in no way corresponds to reality" - the head of the management of public affairs and media ministries Eka Gulua said in an interview.
In Batumi, August 7, flashmob, whose members demanded the return of internally displaced persons to their homes in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, was held. Flashmob was organized by the NGO "Coalition for Justice" on the third anniversary of the Russian-Georgian war in August 2008. The action took place at the new boulevard in the center of Batumi. It was attended by approximately 500 people.
