Iakobashvili: nobody won the war of 2008
According to the Georgian Ambassador to the U.S. Temur Iakobashvili, nobody won the war of 2008. As reported by Trend, the ambassador expressed this view in an interview to radio station "Voice of America". "We have lost people's lives which we won't return. Everything else can be fixed" - said Yakobashvili.
In addition, the Ambassador said that Russia has not won the war, because the image of Russia "degraded". "Russia is now openly positioning itself as an "occupation" force, and its attempts to legitimize it by diplomatic means have failed" - he stressed.
He also believes that South Ossetia and Abkhazia has not got independence. They "have become even more dependent without doubt", he said in an interview to American radio station.
"And Georgia is also not a winner. It seems to me that such military provocations, military arrangements, aimed to gain control over neighboring territories is a mistaken strategy of the Russian Federation. If Russia changes its policy, it would be better for the whole region and for Russia itself" - concluded the Georgian ambassador to the United States.
