Only 20-25 percent of funds earmarked for reconstruction comes to South Ossetia
Political analyst Alexei Vashchenko is sure that the authorities of South Ossetia and Russia will intensify the struggle against the misappropriation of funds allocated for the restoration of RSO.
"There has been repeatedly arose scandals because of the fact that not all the allocated money reaches South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Only 20-25 percent of allocated money reaches South Ossetia, the rest disappear in Moscow and North Caucasus. South Ossetian officials have to admit this fact and the scandal around this situation had drawn a wide response"- said Vashchenko in an interview to "Echo of Caucasus". He also noted that the situation in South Ossetia has become a source of friction that arose between Ministry of Regional Development of RF, under whose control is the process of restoration of Republic, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.
The expert also added that South Ossetian factor, including the sphere of material support to Tskhinval from Moscow, could become very significant in the presidential elections in Russia. "The money is disappearing - it's not a secret. Putin and Medvedev announced that they will fight corruption, but there is no results in this field. One way or another, this is forcing authorities to become more active, to visit localities and to examine the expenditure of funds" - believes Alexei Vashchenko.
