Tugushi asks the authorities of Sakartvelo to take in account the needs of refugees
Finally, the ombudsman of Georgia Giorgi Tugushi draw his attention to the problems of Georgian refugees. As reported by the "Georgia-News", he appealed to Sakartvelo authorities to take necessary steps to reach an agreement with the forced displaced from uncontrolled areas persons on the issue of relocation of the current facilities.
According to the Ombudsman, process of eviction of refugees from the Hotel "Abkhazia" in Tbilisi is scheduled for August 15, and from the "Institute of Health Resort" - on 18 August
"These objects have the status of objects of compact settlement and every displaced person living in these facilities is registered there officially. Meanwhile, these objects have investors" - said in a statement of the Ombudsman, which was released today by his press office.
"The Public Defender of Georgia appeals to the Minister of Refugees and Resettlement of IDPs to consider protecting the interests of displaced persons in connection of the proposals by the government and the adequacy of the amounts of compensation and also to take appropriate steps to reach agreement on the provision of alternative areas and the amount of compensation" - said in a statement.
The Ombudsman underlines that refugees can be derived from the places of compact settlement only if agreement between the parties will be signed. According to this document the refugees should receive adequate housing in the new place of residence.
Recall, on the eve, another protest was held under the motto "I am also a refugee" was held near the building where the office is the ombudsman of Georgia Giorgi Tugushi. The participants of the action focused attention of the Ombudsman to the issue of eviction of refugees. According to the protesters, the position of Ombudsman of the country should not be so "calm" because the authorities are making disorder.
