Attorneys of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia will file an action to the Supreme Court of Georgia
Today, August 15, attorneys of son of the first Georgian President Gamsakhurdia - Tsotne - are planning to make a claim to the Supreme Court of Georgia in order to reconsider decisions made earlier by the Tbilisi City Court and appeal on the case of Gamsakhurdia. As reported by Trend referring to a lawyer of convicted Keti Bekauri, if the Supreme Court won't make the "objective" decision on the case, then the defense will challenge the decision of the Georgian Court at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
Recall, July 20, the Tbilisi Appeal Court upheld the decision of the City Court, which sentenced Gamsakhurdia for 5 years in prison. Thus, the total term of imprisonment of Gamsakhurdia increased to 13 years and two months, since earlier he was sentenced to 9.5 years in prison for attempted premeditated murder, illegal possession and carrying of firearms.
According to investigators, June 7, 2010 Tsotne Gamsakhurdia offered to employee of the hospital for prisoners a bribe of 500 lari to provide him certain information, as well as for the secret removal of the correspondence beyond the place of detention. In this regard, the court increased the sentence of the son of former Georgian president for another five years.
