Refugees were foced to leave Tbilisi Hotel "Abkhazia"
Today, Ministry of Refugees and Resettlement of Displaced Persons forced the IDPs to leave the Hotel "Abkhazia" in Tbilisi, as reportsed by "Georgia-News".
"The process was carried out with involvement of the United Nations and observance of international norms" - said the ministry in a statement. "The 20-year suffering of people who lived in these infernal and unhygienic conditions in the Hotel" Abkhazia are now ended" - noted the ministry.
However, the opposition, watching the eviction, claimed that the refugees were under pressure and that many of them did not want to leave the hotel. Previously the Ombudsman and the opposition parties opposed the eviction of refugees, as well as human rights defenders and public organizations.
Ministry of Refugees said that eviction of IDPs was part of the campaign promises, because those refugees agreed to get 10 thousand dollars per family from the owner of the hotel.
