Opposition: the people of Georgia have the right to refuse such authorities
The representative of the opposition movement "National Forum" Anna Mirotadze said that last year alone about five thousand refugees from Abkhazia and South Ossetia were forcibly evicted from Tbilisi.
According to VZGLYAD, Mirotadze has accused Georgian leaders that they "abandoned their people". According to her, in this case, "people have the right to refuse such authorities".
According to opposition, evicted refugees were offered too little compensation to buy a house and this actually turns them into homelessness.
Note, yesterday, another group of displaced people was evicted from the hotel "Abkhazia" in Tbilisi.
"The process was carried out with involvement of the United Nations and observance of international norms" - said the ministry in a statement. "The 20-year suffering of people who lived in these infernal and unhygienic conditions in the Hotel" Abkhazia are now ended" - noted the ministry.
However, the opposition, watching the eviction, claimed that the refugees were under pressure and that many of them did not want to leave the hotel. Previously the Ombudsman and the opposition parties opposed the eviction of refugees, as well as human rights defenders and public organizations.
Ministry of Refugees said that eviction of IDPs was part of the campaign promises, because those refugees agreed to get 10 thousand dollars per family from the owner of the hotel.
