Lordkipanidze: No decent man would not take position of Sturua
People's Artist of USSR George Lordkipanizde, former head of the Theatre Union of Georgia, criticized the decision of the authorities of the Republic to dismiss well-known director Robert Sturua down as artistic director of the theater named after Shota Rustaveli.
"No decent person should not take position of Robert Sturua in Rustaveli Theater" - "Kommersant" quoted the words of Lordkipanizde.
Earlier, Georgian authorities have explained the situation that arose in connection with the dismissal of the famous Georgian director Robert Sturua from the post of artistic director of the State Drama Theatre named after Shota Rustaveli. These explanations were given by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Georgia Nikoloz Rurua. According to him, the director was removed from office because of his xenophobic statements. Ministerial Order was issued in the social network Facebook and was signed on August 9.
"As for me, this is a very fundamental question, as the country, especially our country, which is essentially a multi-ethnic and multicultural, will not be tolerated to this and will not fund xenophobia. Under the xenophobia I see those statements and ethnic metaphors that Sturua used to make during his numerous interviews in relation to the large community, our neighbors and our fellow citizens who are members of other ethnic groups" - said Rurua in an interview.
Recall, Robert Sturua is known for his criticizing the Georgian leadership. So, June this year the director said he would not want the country was headed by a man of not Georgian nationality.
"Generally speaking, I do not want the president of Georgia was an American. They will send a loser, and then we'll have to look into his eyes. And I would not want the Italian will be our president" - he said.
Earlier Sturua has repeatedly said that he did not want to see Mikhail Saakashvili as the President of Georgia, referring to his Armenian origin.
Also, he stressed that negatively evaluated all the current ruling elite in Georgia in a recent interview to TV channel "Maestro". "These people are not completely untalented degenerates, they are half-degenerates" - said Sturua.
At the same time, he said, that relations between Moscow and Tbilisi will get better soon. "It will take two or three years, and we'll see Russian and Georgian presidents kissing" - said the director.
