Damage from disaster in Kakheti amounted $ 2 million
Authorities of East Georgia estimated the damage inflicted by disaster last night in the region of Kakheti. As reported by "Georgia-News" referring to the Information Center of Kakheti, the damage for day amounted to about three million lari (about $ 1.8 million).
As a result of heavy rains the local rivers have flooded homes, uprooted trees and damaged roads, electrical and gas supply system in the Lagodekhi region.
In addition, part of the track at the checkpoint "Lagodekhi" on the border with Azerbaijan was washed away. Transport connection between the two countries is limited still.
"At this time the water level is already asleep, but some people still can not return to their homes, as they are checking buildings on the stability. As for the restoration of electricity and gas supply, restoration of electricity supply will be possible at the end of the day, and the gas supply will be restored in a few days" - said in an interview the head of the municipality Lagodekhi district Gia Gozalishvili.
