Onishchenko urged to transfer the topic of "Borjomi" from politics to the economy
According to the head of Rospotrebnadzor Gennady Onishchenko, it is high time to transfer the topic of "Borjomi" from the political to the technical direction. As reported by the "Business-Georgia", this position of Russia's chief sanitary doctor said in an interview to radio station "Echo Moskvy". Moreover, he invited producers of mineral water "Borjomi" to negotiate.
Responding to a question, whether Russian customs will let pass Georgian water "Borjomi" to the territory of the country and who appealed to the Federal Service with the request, Onishchenko said: "The remainder of the former Soviet Socialist Republic, the territory which has remained from Georgia, is suddenly beginning to shout at the government level that Georgian producers will never do this..... How can we call such authorities which do not allow their manufacturers to enter the Russian market and to trade?".
Further Onishchenko said that he is familiar with the letter of the Georgian deputy with whom I had met a month ago on the issue of supply "Borjomi" to Russia. This member will once again visit Russia this week, said Onishchenko.
"It's good to meet with the deputy, but it is not productive. I would like to talk to the producers themselves. The official position of the Russian side is that we will meet with anyone who wants to enter the Russian market, but we should not discuss this issue in a political perspective - it's time to start discussing the technical side of the issue and to begin the real work" - said the head of Rospotrebnadzor.
